Every 5th woman and every 10th man on Earth knows what is depression, REAL depression, and how it is, mildly speaking, unpleasant.
"The world is against you, things are going bad and you are a complete failure, unlucky and unhappy. Everything is bad, bad, bad". Have you now or already had thoughts like that?
If you're reading this, it's the former, I guess. No matter what are the words coming on your mind, better or worse, the core is the same: depression.
Hundreds of millions of people suffer from this desease and by 2015 it's expected to become desease no.1 in the world, while the catalogue of known antidepressants is already 3cm thick. Hence, you're not alone. Do you feel better hearing that? If so, just stop reading. Tomorrow your blue mood will pass. But I doubt those figures would really elate you...
The ways people get into depression and the causes why they do are various, the ways out aren't so numerous, fortunately.
Of course, you can take antidepressants. It's your personal matter. But do remember: antidepressants will treat the consequences, not the original cause. And often for a while. Also don't forget about side effects and addictions...
So, let's get to the core as it's the only way to grapple with depression. In other words - why is this happening, why so?
First of all: the world around you is that and is ONLY that which you see it. Nothing more, nothing less. Hot weather is good for those who like it and bad for those who don't. It's clear, I hope.
As our life, every man's life, is a blend of Good and Bad (self-evident), the point is what you see in the flow of things and events of your life. And since we always need more, things that we already have, good things, look prosily. But the bad ones are always and eyesore. How about the fact that 1,5 billion people in the world are dying of hunger right at this moment? If you're reading this, the chance you're dying of hunger too is very low. Do they have the time to think about depression? I wish they had your problems...
There is nothing permanent under the sun. Including depression. It simply cannot last forever, just like anything else in our life. Also try to see that there's still so much beauty in this world. Still so much... Just think about it, and depression will leave you faster.
Today, in a rush and in our zeal to succeed, to "reach the target", we often forget (maybe even don't know) that the happiness of our new achievements, especially of possessing material things (main objective in this business world), won't be long. Just recall how in your childhood, the idea of having a new desired toy was making you happy, but this feeling was slowly disappearing after a couple of hours (or days) of that toy's possession. Now you are grown, and it's time to realize that happiness (if taken as a counterbalance for depression) is a state of your soul, which says that you are in chime with yourself and with the world surrounding you. This state is the prize for doing things which aren't contrary to your mindset.
Look inside you. Do you know how to? I guess, a look at yourself in a mirror, a look into your own eyes, would help. So, do it. And ask yourself: "What's happening to me, and why?" Because if you suffer from depression, there's surely something wrong. And this "something" is that you do things and/or are surrounded by people you don't like. And please, don't lie to yourself (if you'd like to), otherwise you won't find the exit.
One wise and prosperous man said: "Do ONLY what you love with people you like". Sounds almost impossible, right?
Of course, it's the ideal "screenplay". But I said "almost", because the idea that "YOU CAN live your real life, true life, doing things that make you happy" will give you the energy to change your day-to-day situation.
Well, now it's time to put together the above theses and to draw a conclusion about "why and what for depression is happening to me?"
Don't you think it's strange that today it is the desease no.3 after cardiovascular deseases and cancer, and just in several years will become no.1? Despite tons of various antidepressants (just a business, by the way) and all kinds of techniques and therapies..?
It is happening because we keep doing what we're doing trying to find the cure outside ourselves.
It is happening because the human's true essence, true core is trying to tell: "YOU ARE GOING THE WRONG WAY". And depression is the hint, the message to make people come to a stop and think. An invitation to a straight talk with yourself. So don't be afraid of this talk, of the conclusions and the steps you will make.
Depression is another step in your development. Make this step with an open heart, and you'll be rewarded.
